Frequently asked questions
Are these UUIDs unique?
Version 4 has 122 random bits, so collisions are practically impossible. Version 7 combines a millisecond timestamp with random bits for sortable keys.
Which version should I use as a primary key?
v7 if you want index-friendly ordering, v4 when you only need randomness and broad compatibility.
