About
A small, honest toolkit.
toolshd.online exists to remove the small frictions of digital work: a JSON file that will not parse, a photo that is too heavy, a page whose metadata you cannot see.
What we believe
Most online tools are heavier than the job they do. They upload your file to a server that does not need it, show three interstitials, and produce a result you cannot verify. We take the opposite route: the work happens in your browser whenever that is technically possible, the result is copyable, and the page explains what the tool actually does.
That is also why we do not display invented statistics. If there is not enough usage data for a ranking, this site shows a curated list and says so. If a tool cannot be implemented reliably — full PDF editing, for example — it is not published rather than shown as a dead button.
How the tools are built
Text, developer, colour, calculator and image tools are written in plain JavaScript and use browser APIs such as canvas and the Web Crypto interface. Charts, formatting and conversions are computed with explicit algorithms; the source of each tool is ordinary code, not a black box.
Six website-inspection tools need a server-side request, because a browser cannot read another site's headers. Those requests are the only outbound traffic the application makes on your behalf. They are limited to public HTTP/HTTPS addresses, pinned to a validated IP, size-capped and rate-limited, so the feature cannot be turned into a probe of internal networks.
The stack
The site runs on native PHP 8.3 with SQLite, served by a conventional Apache or LiteSpeed host. There is no framework, no build step required to run it, and no always-on worker. Pages are rendered on the server so search engines and readers without JavaScript still get the explanations, instructions and FAQs. Self-hosted Inter, Fraunces and JetBrains Mono keep typography consistent without calling a third-party font CDN.
Accessibility and performance
The interface targets WCAG 2.2 AA: semantic landmarks, visible focus, keyboard-operable controls, labelled forms and reduced-motion support. Pages ship one small CSS and JS bundle, fonts are subset and preloaded, and tool results are announced politely rather than stealing focus.
