About this tool
Encodes text as UTF-8 bytes written in binary, hexadecimal or decimal, and decodes such byte lists back into text. Accented letters and emoji are handled correctly because the conversion works on real UTF-8 bytes, not character codes.

Frequently asked questions
Why does “é” produce two bytes?
UTF-8 stores characters outside basic ASCII in two to four bytes. “é” is 11000011 10101001 in binary.
What separators are accepted when decoding?
Spaces, commas and line breaks. Hex may also use a 0x prefix on each byte.
