About this tool

Removes the hard line breaks that appear when text is copied from a PDF, an email or a terminal, either everywhere or only inside paragraphs so blank-line paragraph breaks survive. Hyphenated words split across lines can be rejoined.

How to use it

  1. Paste the text with unwanted line breaks.
  2. Choose whether to keep paragraph breaks and what to put in place of each break.
  3. Press Remove breaks and copy the result.

Frequently asked questions

How are paragraphs detected?
A blank line (two or more consecutive line breaks) marks a paragraph. With “Keep paragraphs” on, those are preserved and only single breaks are joined.
What does rejoin hyphenated words do?
A word cut as “exam-” at the end of one line and “ple” on the next becomes “example”. Turn it off for real compound words at line ends.
