About this tool
Converts PNG files to WebP at a chosen quality and preserves the alpha channel. WebP is widely supported and typically much smaller than PNG for photographic content, which helps page speed and bandwidth.
How to use it
- Choose or drop a PNG file.
- Adjust the quality level.
- Convert and download the .webp file.
Frequently asked questions
Will transparency survive?
Yes. The canvas keeps the alpha channel, and the WebP encoder writes it back into the output file.
Can every browser create WebP?
Modern Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari can encode WebP. The tool detects support and tells you if your browser cannot.
